Rev. Christopher Roe

Acting Senior Minister

Rev. Christopher came to Fountain Street Church having worked in a variety of religious and educational settings, most recently in Evanston, Illinois, overseeing a vibrant inter-religious youth program. He has a bachelor's degree in education from Grand Valley State University and a Master of Divinity degree from Garrett Seminary in Chicago. He is now working on a Master of Education degree at GVSU, advancing his studies in critical pedagogy, social justice, and religious education. As a classically trained pianist and organist as well as an avid fitness enthusiast, Christopher enjoys spending his free time "on the bench". He also enjoys hanging out with friends, family, and neighbors; nerding out on urban planning and development in Grand Rapids; and traveling abroad once a year with his husband, Jonathan.

Melissa Hoezee

General Manager of Operations

Melissa joined FSC in July 2006 with 10 years of accounting, human resources, and office management experience in the construction industry. She has degrees in human resources management, paralegal studies, accounting, and interior design, with additional certifications in human resources management. Melissa and her daughter, Thea, live in Wyoming, where you can find them playing with their dogs, reading books, or walking in the neighborhood.

Laurie Rikkers

Office Manager

Laurie, a native of Petoskey, has worked in the Grand Rapids senior housing industry most of her career.  She has two daughters, two rescue dogs; one of which is a tripod, and a “foster-fail” cat.  As a geology enthusiast, she loves all things beach!  Laurie volunteers for an animal rescue group and enjoys seeking out new experiences and opportunities for learning.

Jamie McDaniels

Head Custodian

Jamie came to us through Grand Rapids Building Services and after 5 years we were able to hire him directly.  He enjoys fishing, barbecues and loves sushi!  Jamie lives in Kentwood with his wife and three boys.

Katie Bush

Interim Director of Children & Youth Programs

Katie will be at Fountain Street through May of 2023. She comes to us with 16 years of education experience in the public schools including teaching and administration. She holds an MA in secondary education from Aquinas College as well as a certificate in K-12 school administration from Grand Valley. Her BA in Biology is from Hope College. Katie is excited to work alongside staff and volunteers to help the children and youth of FSC make connections with one another. Katie's hobbies include singing with the Grand Rapids Women's Chorus and spending time with family, including her 4 young nieces and nephews and her godchildren. 


Austin McWilliams

Choir Director

Austin McWilliams is a conductor and countertenor who specializes in contemporary vocal music. He strives to present compelling, intriguing art that is directly relevant to the communities in which it is performed. Austin is the Associate Conductor and Education Director at Opera Grand Rapids, where he acts as both chorus master and head of the contemporary opera series. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Choral Studies at Western Michigan University, where he conducts the university operas and teaches several courses, and is a faculty member at Missouri Scholars Academy, an annual, month-long governor’s school for gifted high school juniors in his native state. Favorite projects include Stinney: An American Execution (Frances Pollock), a world premiere opera about 14-year-old black boy George Stinney Jr. who was wrongfully convicted and executed in 1944; Our Trudy (Anna Pidgorna), a world premiere opera about the life of a small-town Kansas art teacher; and Of Rage and Remembrance (John Corigliano), a choral recital on HIV/AIDS awareness. Austin holds degrees in choral conducting and computer engineering.

Kayle Clements

Head A/V Technician

Kayle is a pianist, composer and technology geek who loves digging in and learning new things. Much to his parent's dismay, young Kayle could often be found taking apart the family electronics and gadgets to see how they worked. He (mostly) got everything put back together. This vein of curiosity lead him to pursue a variety of interests and careers throughout his life; music director, pit musician, graphic designer, audio and video production, marketing guy, accompanist, and composer. Kayle lives in Rockford with his wife Suzy, and their little white dog, Pup.
