BeFriender Ministry

A BeFriender is a lay member trained to assist with pastoral care, mainly through compassionate listening. A BeFriender can be a "companion on the journey" through a difficult time.

Build Guild

The Build Guild puts their construction skills to use in the community. The group has worked with the Partners in Housing Program at Family Promise of Grand Rapids and traveled as far as Texas and for disaster relief aid.


Family Promise

Three or four times annually, Fountain Streeters work with First United Methodist Church to provide hospitality assistance to families experiencing housing difficulties.

God's Kitchen


Join other Fountain Streeters in serving at God’s Kitchen. We provide support on the first Monday of each month, usually about four hours in the afternoon. 

Schools of Hope

The Heart of West Michigan United Way Schools of Hope Program is improving the literacy skills of more than 400 students in Grand Rapids Public Schools. The Schools of Hope Program pairs volunteer reading tutors with students in grades 1-3 who are behind in reading. Each students works one-on-one with the same tutor once a week for 30 minutes during the school day.
