Fountain Club

“Come into this circle of caring,
Come into the community of gentleness, of justice and love.
Come, and you shall be refreshed.
Let the healing power of this people penetrate you.
Let loving kindness and joy pass through you.
Let hope interfuse you.
And peace be the law of your heart.
In this human circle, caring is a calling.
All of us are called.
So come into the circle of caring.”

-Written by R. Gibert and shared each time we gather for Fountain Club Vespers

Fountain Club, for high school-aged youth, gathers most Sundays from 1:00-3:00 p.m. in Room 205, (the Shrine Room), with the exception of the summer months.

The goal is to provide a community of safety and inclusion where high school youth have the opportunity to discover and explore spiritual and religious concepts within the context of their daily lives. The Adult Ministry Leaders of Fountain Club seek to provide opportunities for exploration, adventure, and leadership, while working to ensure an environment of safety, tolerance, and diversity. Fountain Club holds fundraisers throughout the year to support the group’s activities and service trips.

For more information on Fountain Club, please contact the Rev. Fred Wooden at either (616) 459-8386 ext. 220 or fwooden@fountainstreet.org.

The Diversity Stake™ is a colorful garden ornament lovingly handmade by FSC's Fountain Club, our high school youth group. Proceeds finance a service and learning trip.
Each stake measures 1” X 1” X 48" and is hand painted in the colors of the rainbow, plus black and white to represent racial diversity. The stakes have multicolored ribbons fluttering from the top and a label, Fountain Street Church, Diversity Stake™ is attached. The stakes are hand-crafted by high school students, and each one is a unique work of art (see photo).

A church member conceived of the idea in order to make the church more welcoming to the GLBT community. Dr. Fred Wooden, Senior Minister, suggested adding black and white to include racial diversity. The diversity stakes have been sold through the church for the past several years, and now are recognizable throughout the Grand Rapids community. The stakes will be a glorious addition to your indoor or outdoor garden.
