The Duncan Littlefair Great Speakers Series, named after one of FSC’s most dynamic ministers, hosts a variety of presentations throughout the year. It brings dynamic, invigorating and transformative presentations to West Michigan, to provoke new ideas and spark community dialogue. The Series hosts and presents an annual slate of events, including philosophers, performers, artists, and educators, who offer a spiritual and challenging perspective of the world and our relationship to it.
Our mission and vision is two-fold: share new ideas with the Grand Rapids community, and introduce outsiders who share a similar passion for inquiry to FSC. More than 80% of our members were introduced to the church as a result of events like the Duncan Littlefair Great Speakers Series.
The history of great speakers appearing at Fountain Street Church spans more than 100 years, and is a legacy of which the church is very proud. Beginning with a spirited crowd listening to Susan B. Anthony plead from our pulpit for support of women’s suffrage, topics including social justice, politics, religion, freedom of speech, anthropology, censorship, and environmentalism have been offered to the West Michigan community.
