Welcome to the Purple District Website. Our district is comprised of approximately 850 congregants who live in the Eastown and East Grand Rapids vicinity. We get together to socialize and to support the three on-going focus areas of Fountain Street Church which are: education, environmental sustainability and social action issues. Your district coordinators are Judy Botts, Audrey Craft, Jan Landane and Marianne Miller.
We Beyond Sunday Shared Ministry coordinators are comitted to helping purple district members feel that they are a viable part of the larger church community. Our goal is to "grow connections" among our members via the variety of activities we sponsor. A few events we've participated in include:
*Hosting soup luncheons after the Sunday church service
*Potluck brunches at church and potluck dinners at congregants' homes
*Assembling Welcome Baskets for Dwelling Place residents
*Gathering for Saturday morning breakfast at local eateries
* Baking cookies with Blue District members each December
Our tentative calendar for annual activities is posted in the Purple District space on the Beyond Sunday Shared Ministry bulletin board which is directly in front of the coatroom as well as in the Welcome Center.
You can also check the Friday emailing of "the Flash" ( email sent to congregants each Friday detailing the events for the coming Sunday), the Weekly Notes, which are inserted into the weekly church bulletin and the monthly publication of "The Chimes" to keep abreast of district happenings. If you need to send us a message or if you wish to be added to our e-mail list so that you can receive Purple District news, please e-mail me at: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
Future events include:

If you can join us, bring a dish to pass. Coffee, ice water, paper products and flatware will be provided. Children are welcome to join in the fun and may bring games or whatever might keep them content.
March 30th_ - Before church (10:15 or so) volunteers will organize and pack Dwelling Place Welcome Baskets. Following the service, volunteers will deliver baskets.
April 19th- Get your weekend started right with your Purple District members as we gather for a "no agenda" breakfast at The Cherie Inn (969 Cherry SE) at 9:30 AM.
May 3rd - All Fountain Street members are encouraged to join us for the 31st Annual Hunger Walk..we need volunteers to assist with the logistics of the walk as well as a strong showing of walkers. Got questions....email Judy Botts or call me: 241-1542.
