Grade School – Our primary learning ministry with children of grade-school age is called the “Voyage of Discovery.” After beginning with adults are in worship in the sanctuary, children are invited to join in exploring issues of religious significance to them through programs developed in consultation with Howard Gardner’s model of multiple intelligences and also inspired by the Reggio Emilia model, which is a child-centered approach. As such, adults and parents become co-leaders and co-learners with children as the children articulate to us their religious questions and concerns.
This year’s theme of exploration is world religion, which we begin through a curriculum called “Holidays and Holy Days.” After being introduced to a variety of religious customs and celebrations we will allow the children to lead us in gathering resources that will further support their exploration.
